WTF Director & Producer Bootcamp 2020

 

What is Bootcamp?

Part 1:  Info Session about applying to WTFringe and WTFringe Lab

  • Friday, January 17, 2020, 6:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. at NC State, Thompson Hall.

 

Part 2:  Director/Producer Bootcamp Intensive

  • Saturday, January 18, 10:00 a.m.– 5:30 p.m. at NC State, Thompson Hall.

Where is Bootcamp?  

  • NC State University, Frank Thompson Hall, 2241 Dunn Ave. Raleigh NC 27695
    Parking: Coliseum Parking Deck, 201 Jeter Dr. Raleigh NC 27695, enter from Jensen Drive (free Friday evening and Saturday daytime)

 

Who should attend Bootcamp?

  • Any director or producer who wants to apply for WTFringe or WTFringe Lab 2020 is encouraged to attend the info session on Friday.

  • WTFringe and WTFringe Lab applicants are also encouraged to attend the Directing/Producing Bootcamp on Saturday for a deep dive into the logistics of directing and producing. While Bootcamp is designed for potential WTF artists, all interested parties are also invited to attend.

 

How much does it cost?

  • Bootcamp is free! WTF is committed to making theatre and theatre education accessible to all, so we are offering this programming free of charge. We do have a suggested donation of $10-$20 in order to help WTF offset administrative and personnel costs.

 

Do I need to sign up?

  • Yes! Please sign up HERE for the info session and/or Bootcamp. Having an accurate count will help us prepare for both sessions!

Interested in being a part of WTFringe 2020? Women’s Theatre Festival invites you to attend our Friday evening info session (January 17, 6:00–9:00 p.m.) and our Saturday Bootcamp for Directors and Producers (January 18, 10:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.) at NC State. 

 

Mia Self (Assistant Director of Acting and Directing at NC State) and Rowen Haigh (Freelance Director, WTF Director of Regional Engagement) will facilitate. 

 

The Friday evening info session will cover:

  • The structure of WTFringe 2020 and WTFringe Lab 2020

  • The updated application process for WTFringe 2020

  • The new application process for WTFringe Lab 2020

  • Q&A and networking time for attendees

 

The Saturday Bootcamp for Directors and Producers will cover:

  • The distinct roles of director and producer

  • How to utilize a director/producer collaboration

  • Top 10 Critical Director Tasks

  • Top 10 Critical Producer Tasks

  • How to collaborate with designers 

  • How to run and participate in a production meeting

  • What to do when everything goes wrong

  • Q&A and networking time for attendees

  • If you’re ready and raring to go with your WTFringe plan, go for it! If you are available, we’d still love for you to come so we can meet you and so that you can share what you know with other women+ directors and producers in the community.

 

Q: Where can I learn more about directing or producing?

 

  • WTFringe Lab is a new structured training, mentorship, and creation program designed for early-stage women+ directors to develop foundational skills in directing and producing. You can apply here.

 

  • Talk to us! Depending on your experience and skill set, WTF may be able to help you find a position shadowing or assisting an experienced director or producer while you learn the ropes.
